Personally, I am a firm believer in Hanlon's Razor: Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

The collective "Powers that be" have been buoyed along by their belief in the collective success that they have had in recent years. Things are starting to unravel for them as the pendulum of public sentiment begins its swing in the other direction. The only question is whether it will continue its path in the other direction or whether it will fly off the clock altogether.

People like Cuomo are just the rats leaving the sinking ship. Maybe it is just an act now that he is persona non grata with the media establishment. It is a hard fall from a media darling to the ranks of the unwashed masses, even with the golden parachute that he has had. If is redemption is real, he should be welcomed into the fold, but watched carefully. There needs to be a real path to redemption. We can't have those who have been riding the wave believing that there is no way out. That only fuels desperation.

It is going to take a long time to undo the damages that have been wrought on society (and are still being perpetrated.) We have only drawn the Hydra out from its lair. The real battle is yet to come. Hopefully, it will just be a metaphorical battle.

Those "Powers that be" have created a horrific landscape and the problems are all interconnected. The border crisis here in the US and the similar invasion in Europe are the result of empowering despots abroad where the only option available is to escape where previously, it would have brought about revolution.

The "smaller" problems such as homelessness, addiction, crime, have been similarly the result of the corrupt purchase of our government by lobbyists. This also includes the rise of the anti-consumer actions of corporations and the mandates of government that deprive of our rights over things that we purportedly own. It also encroaches the rights we have over our own bodies and the raising of our children.

Don't get me wrong. Extremes from all over of the political spectrum are equally dangerous. The choices of living under communism, in company towns, or in the world of Panem from the Hunger Games are all equally distopic. Opportunistic predators will find their way into any solution to the problems we face. Look no further than the billions of dollars that are expended towards homelessness and addition that not only have failed but have overseen an increase in the problems. We are replete with charities that say that they are putting up the good fight but are just a means to extract money from well intended donors and just create their own path to riches for the leadership.

I guess we will watch and see whether history will repeat itself or if it will just rhyme....

I think it's already rhyming, and it's not my favorite tune... But you're right. We need to leave room to allow for sincere redemption to be possible. We also have to know if we're being played again. It's a fine line.
